Description
In 1999, heavily influenced by the turntablism skills of the Music House Crew, Christian Chacha took his first step. He saved everything he had, and bought his first pair of Technics 1200 turntables. With only two records, and countless nights of messing around in his room, led to the appreciation and knowledge of different genres of music. Through endless practice with his teacher DJ EZ ROC, he was well grounded in the DJ fundamentals: Tight mixes, cuts, scratches and selection skills. With these skills under his belt, he and four friends; Aadel ?Don Dougla? Chin Albert, Michael ? Nemesis? Johnson, Marlon ?Terror P? Johnson and Keron ? Bumper Soprano?Lewis formed the Dragon Sound System.
This crew got heavily involved in parties and was known for their hot selections, wicked dub plates and extraordinary juggling and scratching ability. As time passed, due to other commitments and situations the crew was unable to stay together. This however, didn?t dampen Chachas? spirit. He had a commitment to provide quality music to his already growing following, so he continued to collect his records and play at parties.
In 2001, another, DJ Keldon ?Smokey? Roberts joined Chacha and this Dynamic Duo continued to uphold the reputation that the sound was known for. Their arsenal of dub plates grew immensely and so did the parties. Two years later Dj Kamau joined them in their musical artistry but left in 2005 to pursue a solo career.
In recent times Dragon has expanded its membership with the addition of five selectors: Sean ? Tenstar General? Haynes, Chaz "Stryker"Mayers, Kirtney? DJ Kirtney? Andrews, Michael"Mikey" Singh and Jamie ? The Fire Lady? Nelson?the first female DJ in the sound. Chacha and his new unit have been ?flattening? dancehalls in Trinidad and Tobago, the United States and the Caribbean. With health, strength, Gods? guidance and blessings they will continue to be Dragon Sound??.The Fire Sound!!
